Aren’t those calls you get from the garage great when they start out "I have some bad news."?
I brought my ‘01 Jeep GC in for an oil change and asked that they check on a noise coming from the rear. The mechanic called to say that I need a new rear end. The Jeep took a nasty hit, sliding/slaming into a curb a few years back so it wouldn’t surprise me that something major would eventually develop from that. He said they don’t do that work and recommended that I take it to a Jeep dealer, so he’s not looking to make a quick buck. They’ve been pretty good with past repairs so I think they’re call on this is most likely right. I’ll take it to another place for another opinion.
My question is, assuming the rear end is shot, how much could I expect the replacement parts to cost (both rebuilt and new) excluding labor costs?
Thanks!
cheaper to replace bad parts gears are cheaper at bearing outlets .unless outer metal all bent up. auto parts will be 1/2 higher thats how i replaced wheel bearings
